38 million people were displaced last year according to Geneva’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Center. Having trouble grasping what 38 million is? Combine the populations of London, New York, and Beijing.

Violence caused 30,000 people to flee their houses a day, due to violence. At no other time have this many people had to flee their homes, and this is the third consecutive year in a row that there have been record highs.

Not to be corny and quote Buffalo Springfield, but “I think it’s time we stop hey, what’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down.” The world is crying, we humans are destroying our fellow beings and the Earth we inhabit. Unfortunately, most people won’t notice until it’s already too late.

War is the cause of death and pain; war has never caused happiness, love, or peace. Conflict is optional, war is optional; humankind must learn to set aside hate and ego.
