Boys Basketball: An Unforgettable Season

Cementing+Legacy

1993. This marked the last time the El Modena Boys Basketball team has ever won a league title— until now. Finally, after 30 long years, the team has hung a banner for the school.

With 10 experienced seniors on the roster and one goal in mind, the boys were bound for success. Practices almost daily coupled with constant weightlifting was mentally taxing on them, but they knew this was their last chance to win together and so they worked tirelessly with that goal in mind.

The Southern Section Division is one of the most competitive areas in the nation, and even with all of the adversity facing them, the team was able to achieve a 19-12 record and a 4-2 league finish.

Unfortunately, their historic season ended in the quarter finals of CIF in a heartbreaking two point loss in overtime to Sage Hill High School, but this deep playoff run along with their league title will always be remembered proudly by everyone.
