There’s a good chance you’ve been seeing a lot more chess recently, and you’re not alone. The chess spree didn’t come out of nowhere. “Pogchamps” was an event in which your favorite Twitch streamers competed against each other in chess tournaments, sparking interest and growth in competitors.

   Not long ago, a streamer of the name Ludwig hosted a chess boxing tournament where steamers would go head to head until someone got a knockout or a checkmate. These made chess a staple in Twitch history, with the category reaching a whopping 376 thousand concurrent viewers.
