Get to Know Mr. Shepherd
The Newest Edition to El Modena’s Staff.
Before coming to El Modena, Mr. Shepherd worked in education for 8-12 years. He was an avid tutor throughout college and worked at Cal State Long Beach as a TA and supplemental instructor for history classes. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, he taught CTE, AP US History, World History, and Avid in Long Beach Unified School District. He then became an Assistant Principal at California Connections Academy which is an online charter that caters to students across the state.
Mr. Shepherd enjoys lots of aspects of El Modena such as being in person and interacting with students. He is excited about working with an amazing team and awesome student body as well as attempting to provide a safe, welcoming, and warm school environment. He went into administration because he felt like he could make a difference and help more students and grow as a professional educator.
In his free time, Mr. Shepherd enjoys going to the gym, Jiu-Jitsu, and consuming copious amounts of iced coffee. His favorite shows to binge watch are The Office, Game of Thrones, Ozark, and Better Call Saul. Mr Shepherd’s favorite food is mole enchiladas, especially from Los Compadres in Long Beach.
