On March 23, 2022, the hit-sensation Harry Styles shook the internet with the announcement of his highly anticipated third album, Harry’s House, which is set to be released on May 20.
If somehow you have been living under a rock and have no idea who Harry Styles is, no worries, I can give you some background information. Styles was a part of the widely popular boy band One Direction from 2010 to 2016 where they sold over 70 million records worldwide.
Following the breakup, Styles released his first solo single “Sign of the Times,” which went straight to number 1 in the UK, and a self-titled album. Three years later he released his second album, Fine Line, which topped the US charts in addition to winning a Grammy for his single “Watermelon Sugar.”
Harry’s House was announced accompanied by the cover art which features the singer standing upside down on a minimalist living room ceiling. Styles wears wide-leg jeans with a white and pink collared peasant blouse.
The album’s announcement also included a trailer that displays Styles walking across a stage where a 2D yellow house slowly rises behind him.
According to a press release from Columbia Records, the upcoming album has 13 tracks, which is more than both his previous records, but the tracklist has not been released yet except for the single “As It Was.”
On April 1, Styles released “As It Was,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and received over 16 million streams on Spotify in one day.
This single differs from the last two albums created by the artist as the song follows more of an upbeat, eccentric mood shifting from his typical rock-orientated vibe. “As It Was” contains gloomy lyrics depicting feelings of loneliness while creating a beat perfect for dancing.
Styles’ newest single gives insight into how his personal sound may be changing which is all the more reason you must give his upcoming album a listen once released!
