El Modena’s Wellness Week

PAL Helps Vanguards Take the Charge of Their Mental Wellness

The mental health of our Vanguards is extremely important and our very own PAL has stepped up and dedicated a whole week to it. Peer Assistance Learning or PAL is a class that fosters an inclusive and loving learning environment.

Wellness Week, formerly What if Week, works to promote mental health awareness in our El Modena community. PAL wants you to know that it’s okay to take a step back and take a break. They also want to ensure that you know it’s okay to ask for help.

Starting on April 25th, Wellness Week takes place at a crucial time for our students. AP exams, finals, and makeup work all make the end of the year more stressful than we would like. However, PAL has given each day of the week an event for students to do at lunch and help ease end-of-the-year stress.

Monday’s activity is journaling which helps reduce feelings of anxiety by having you release some of that bottled-up stress onto the pages of a journal.

Tuesday is all about yoga. This mindful exercise is the perfect way to not only improve your mental well-being but also your physical health as well. Reminding us to maintain that mind-body connection.

Wednesday is art day! Vanguards can have the chance to express themselves through oil pastels to make their own tie-dye designs, which will be all taped together to create a mural. Because despite our differences we are all part of this El Mo community!

A picnic is planned for Thursday. Vanguards will get to sit down, relax, and enjoy their lunch while enjoying the company of others the perfect way to improve wellness.

To finish off the week students can make slime on Friday. A timeless classic, slime is fun, nostalgic, and relaxing to make. Nothing quite calms the mind like making slime.
