This Holiday Treat Will Leave You Conked on the Floor



  • 1 sleeve of saltine crackers
  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of unsweetened chocolate  


  1. Make a layer of saltine crackers at the bottom of your tray
  2. Make a caramel sauce with brown sugar and butter and cook on low heat, stirring occasionally
  1. Pour in the vanilla extract 
  2. Pour a layer of caramel on top of the crackers
  3. Bake them in the oven for 5 minutes at 450 degrees
  4. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and pour it over the caramel layer
  5. Crush up candy canes and sprinkle on top of the chocolate
  6. Sprinkle some salt on top of the chocolate
  7. Allow for the chocolate to harden overnight 
  8. Cut or break the chocolate into smaller pieces
