You Eat Peanuts, I Watch Peanuts

I Don’t Know About You But I’m Only Here For Snoopy

For my family, Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Specials. These 30 minute specials have always been perfect for bringing the Thanksgiving season to a close.

My family always watches “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers” back-to-back because they fit so well together.

We start with “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” in which Charlie Brown hosts a thanksgiving dinner for his friends even though all he can cook is toast. My favorite part of this special is following the evening of Snoopy and Woodstock, especially all of their festive costumes and Snoopy’s fight with the lawn chair.

After the Thanksgiving special, “This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers” always plays. This follows the journey of the Pilgrims from England to America featuring the lovable Peanuts characters as children aboard the Mayflower and their adventures once they reach the “New World.”

Nothing compares to lounging on the couch stuffed full of food and being thankful for your blessings whilst watching Snoopy beat up a lawn chair. I would recommend this tradition to anyone who enjoys Charles Shulz’s lovable Peanuts characters.
