A Break From Football

What Went Down While We Waited For The 2nd Half

One thing Vanguards missed from last season’s games was our outstanding halftime performances from Cheer and Pom, Vanguard Dance Company, Marching Band, and Color Guard. As our football team collects itself and prepares for the 2nd half of the game, you can catch these groups out on the field. At our first home game on September 17th, we were astounded by these performances. Here’s what the Captains have to say about their routines.

El Mo Cheer Captain Amanda Salazar:

“Cheer and pom performed ‘Fashionista,’ an upbeat pop piece cheer perfected at USA summer camp and taught pom when they returned to school”

El Mo Marching Band Captain Shawn Ricker and Color Guard Captain Dianna Gutierrez:

Band and Color Guard performed the first movement of this year’s performance, “Dreams of Persia.” It was a piece that is inspired by the musical works of the Middle East and is very similar to the Disney movie, “Aladdin.”

Our visual and performing arts students are thankful they finally had the opportunity to share their dedication to our Vanguard Nation.

Also at our first halftime, football coach, Coach Meyers, asked his girlfriend to be his wife and she said… YES! We are so happy for the two of them and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
