Which is the better Christmas playlist?
The holiday debate on the Christmas classics or pop releases
“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.” Once the holiday cheer begins these classic Christmas songs will be on repeat all month long. At the same time, however, one can’t help but feel the joyful spirit of Christmas once Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” starts playing.
We can’t deny that some pop songs have become a permanent part of Christmas. Santa Tell Me by Ariana Grande or Mistletoe by Justin Bieber are go to songs for holiday cheer. A notable difference between the new and old comes down to the lyrics. The pop singles emphasize winter love, while the classics emphasize holiday cheer.
In the end, nothing can beat the classics everyone grew up with, and once the melody begins everyone knows “that it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”
