Coming Together to Celebrate our Community

OUSD’s first ever Unity Week

The Orange Unified School District hosted its first-ever Unity Week. This five-day celebration consisted of different events hosted by each OUSD high school for the community.

Starting off with Make a Difference Monday hosted by Canyon, everyone, including elementary students, wrote letters to first responders thanking them for their bravery.

Making our way towards Tuesday, El Modena celebrated Togetherness Tuesday by having people post a picture celebrating being a part of a team. People posted pictures of sports teams, clubs, ASB, or just people they’re grateful for.

Welcoming Wednesday, hosted by Orange High School, celebrated the district’s diversity by creating a playlist with everyone’s individual suggestions district-wide.

Nearing the end of unity week, Richland took over creating a beautiful tree with positive messages and notes of what students and faculty were grateful for. Continuing the trend of community, the Thankful Thursday celebration was a great success.

Finally to end this awesome week filled with so much positivity was Villa Park, honoring all families with Family Friday. Students were encouraged to post a picture recreating an old family photo. Three families were then chosen throughout the district and given a family prize.

Coming together to create a positive event during a time of division, the Panthers, Comanches, Condors, Vanguards, and Spartans were able to put school rivalries aside in order to work hand in hand for the better of the community.

We also raised over 2700 cans district wide from our canned food drive. We can’t wait to see what next year’s event will be like.
