Girls Golf Practices

A look into El Mo’s golf program and safety guidelines

Golf is actually one of the few sports that didn’t need to change much to practice safety guidelines. It’s already a contactless sport, the girls just wear masks now, and it is very easy to stay six feet apart if needed.

In the usual school year, the golf season would have happened August through October, but because of COVID-19, the season has been pushed back until January. Practices are only once a week because of this, but this will of course change once the season gets closer.

The varsity team consists of the same girls who have been playing for over three years so this could be a great season for the Girls Golf team here at El Modena. “I am optimistic about the season this year because we are getting more practice in before the season starts!” Lauren Fong, senior, exclaimed.

Fong and Whitley Pearsall, also a senior, are the new captains for the team and have been very hopeful for the new season. In just four years, the girls golf program turned from a little team of four to both a JV and Varsity team consisting now of seventeen girls, all ready for the new season.
