Haunt and Honk

El Mo’s first ever car parade, celebrating the spooky season of Halloween with candy and more!

The students of El Modena celebrate their first in person event of the year through the Haunt and Honk Parade. On October 30th, El Mo’s ASB prepared a Halloween themed car parade distributing candy to all students and families that would pass through the spooky trail.

Starting off with a Vanguard welcome, visitors first entered through the sesame street path. Through this you could find our very own Elmo wrapped like a mummy for the festivity.

Followed by this were the scarier paths displaying beautifully scary murals of the  “Nightmare Before Christmas,” a scary circus, and the sewers of “IT!” It was a fun night to see many of our El Modena students dressed up enjoying the car parade.

What made the event even more exciting was seeing all of the cars decorated showcasing the Halloween spirit of our community. Cobwebs and LED lights made every car stand out, or even having scarecrows popping out of the car! The winner of the car decoration contest was Triston Chavez.

A great way to end the fun ride was by gazing at the beautiful Dia De Los Muertos tribute altar for our Vanguard families. Set up by our very own MECHA, who distributed Mexican candy and marigolds to our guests, it was definitely a sight to see.

Although the car parade was not being approved until two weeks prior, the wind not being friendly, and multiple other setbacks,  this event was a great success.

ASB president Angelina Rios-Galindo states, “ I’m very proud of my ASB though because we got it all done and everyone had a great time.” It is the beginning of exciting events the school has planned for our Vanguards this year.
