The 2020 BBMAS Rundown
All you missed during the celebration of everything music.
The Billboard Music awards finally took place on October 14th, after months of its postponement due to the pandemic. Hosted once again by Kelly Clarkson in an empty Dolby Theater, the show had over 3.7 million viewers at the edge of their seats.
57 awards were presented throughout the night. One notable winner is Garth Brooks, who received the Icon Award. The country singer now joins the list of renowned artists who have made great contributions to the music industry. This includes Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, and Cher.
BTS also came out of the night as winners receiving the Top Social Artists Award for the third year in a row. Another fan voted winner currently taking over the charts is Harry Styles, joining the winners list by receiving the Billboard Achievement Award.
However, the star of the night was none other than the singer/rapper Post Malone. Having a total of 16 nominations and being the most awarded artist of the night taking home nine wins. The New Yorker also won the highest honor of the night, receiving the Top Artist Award.
Post Malone also took part in the amazing performances showcased at the award show, alongside 14 other artists. Performing with Tyla Yaweh at a construction site type venue, they sang their chart topping singles “Circles” and “Tommy Lee.”
En Vogue closed the night with their Grammy nominated single “Free Your Mind” released in 1992. With strong lyrics against prejudice and stereotypes, their performance is a definite highlight of the night.
