A Measure of Innovation

El Modena’s new science building continues construction with structural and planning updates

For the past four years, residents within Orange Unified School District have been paying extra taxes to support a bond measure called Measure S, which has helped to raise money for the construction of El Modena’s new science building.

The building, which will offer students and teachers access to innovative equipment, has recently undergone various structural updates and a change regarding the completion date.

Since students began remote learning in March, the Angeles Contractor team has made critical advancements to the building such as improved structural support, the addition of air conditioning ducts in future laboratory rooms, the installation of stairs, the setting of steel for decks, and corrections to cap plates and footings.

The school administration expects sixteen additional classrooms, including multiple rooms for the medically fragile, to be implemented in the building. Additionally, the completion date has been changed to March 20, 2021, around the time when students may begin their science classes in the new building.
