The Kindness Shining Through During the Coronavirus Pandemic

As the world is teaming up to defeat COVID-19, many celebrities are using their platforms to make big contributions.

With the pandemic the world is facing today, it is everyone’s duty to help one another. Whether it is staying home and social distancing, or even donating money, everyone should be making contributions to slow the spread of this virus. These celebrities have made significant donations to support those struggling and help those on the frontlines, battling COVID-19.

One person who is helping those in need during this time is basketball player Zion Williamson. Williamson is a forward for the New Orleans Pelicans. Williamson announced via Instagram that he will help cover the salaries of those working at the Smoothie King Center, the home of the Pelicans, for a month.

Not only are athletes contributing to helping others, Donatella Versace and her daughter gave 200,000 euros to San Raffaele hospital in Milan, in response to supply shortages. Versace spoke on her contribution, stating “In times like this, it is important to be united and support however we can to help all those who are in the front lines, fighting every day to save hundreds of lives”

The alternative-rock band Grouplove is hosting an at home concert on April 17, 2020 at 1 p.m. PST/4 p.m. EST. The lineup includes Le Shiv, Andy Hull, Katie Gavin, Kevin Devine, Jealous of the Birds, and of course, Grouplove.

Protect Each Other.” On the back it says “This T-Shirt Fights COVID-19. Treat People With Kindness.” All Of the profits made from this shirt is going to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the WHO, powered by the UN Foundation. Lady Gaga has not only helped curate the One World: Together at Home concert, but has also raised more than $35 million to help provide health workers with protective equipment.

Actors Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, at the very beginning of this pandemic, donated $1 million to coronavirus relief. Another couple who donated was Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, who donated $1 million to two organizations representing food banks throughout the US and Canada.
