Lucas Donnelly: Stud of the Month

One of El Modena’s best soccer studs

Senior Lucas Donnelly has been a major asset to the boys varsity soccer team here at El Modena for the past four years. He has been a varsity starter since his freshman year.

Donnelly has played soccer for 15 years now, and his experiences shows on the field. Averaging 1.5 goals per game, Donnelly leads the team in goals. Donnelly plays center attacking midfield, which is comparable to the point guard in basketball. His job at center attacking midfield is often regarded to as the playmaker, and he initiates the attack.

Donnelly has two Second Team All League awards under his belt so far, and is aiming to earn a First Team All League award for his contributions for this season, a goal that is looking very attainable.

Donnelly also committed to Cal State San Marcos, where he will play NCAA Division II men’s soccer. Donnelly verbally committed in September 2019, and is planning on signing this spring to tie the knot.

As a senior and a leader on the team, Donnelly comments “I think we have potential, we have a good team bond, we just need better chemistry on the pitch.”

Donnelly is quite the soccer player, he is smart on the field and is very skillful. Keep an eye out for Donnelly on the soccer field in college this fall.
