Lana Del Rey’s Still Got It
The singer/songwriter released her sixth studio album on August 30th, 2019.
From Born to Die to Ultraviolence and now Norman F*****g Rockwell, Lana Del Rey has proven she is an alternative virtuoso. Every album released by the songstress keeps her unique sound while also demonstrating her evolution as a musician, and NFR is no different.
Her album takes the listener from smooth, relaxing songs such as her cover of Doin’ Time to the almost trance-like The Next Best American Record. In The Greatest, Del Rey expresses her views on present-day phenomena with lyrics like, “L.A. is in flames, it’s getting hot” and “I hope the livestream’s almost on.” The greatest part of listening to this album is hearing Lana Del Rey at the most mature point in her life; she knows hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like her to have.
