  The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a book about a young girl who witnessed her childhood friend get shot by a caucasian cop for no reason. After this terrible incident, she is drawn to activism and takes a stand against this unjustly act. Throughout the book, the reader will see Starr Carter grow from a scared girl who doesn’t know what to do and living two different lives, to a strong woman, taking a stand for what she believes in while balancing both parts of her life.
