El Mo got a new Defensive Line coach this football season: Coach Tafua. “D-Line basically keeps contain on line and tries to keep the quarterback in his little area. If he goes out, that’s when I have to take him down. The main goal is to get the guy with the ball.” Sophomore Aiden Ruiz shared, “The new coach, he’s a really cool guy. He knows a lot about how D-Line works. Now we have two D-Line coaches, Coach Tafua and Coach Ward, and that’s better than one.”

Sophomore Caleb Manson also shared his thoughts on the new coach: “Coach has had a lot of experience with Defensive Line, he’s played a lot of football. He’s definitely upgraded D-Line and he really pushes us. I feel like it’s been a good season this year.” The main role for all D-Line players is to watch the QB from the other team, if he moves, the players have to move. “We’ve never really had a D-Line coach, he’s played the sport, he’s been in the position. Tafua really teaches us what it means to be a Defensive Lineman.” Senior Scott Leonard said. With Coach Tafuas help, the Vanguard football defensive line can be stronger than ever.
