Amongst the El Modena community we recognize our after school athletics teams and it’s members. Yet we forget about our athletically talented students outside of school such as Junior Blake Sanchez.

Sanchez is known by friends as a great skater with huge potential.

After constantly watching his cousin and his friends skate in front of his house, Sanchez decided to take up skating himself at the age of 7.

After years of constant dedication and hard work, Sanchez’s skills caught the attention of Active Ride shop and received a sponsorship.

Active ride shop provides him free clothes and 50% off anything in store. At just 16 Sanchez has been successful in making a statement.

Although he skates on average 4-5 days, Sanchez says “I’m not skating as much as I would like to.”

At the end of the day, Sanchez says “I love the feeling you get when you learn a new trick you’ve been trying so hard to learn.”

As for future plans “I want to become professional and have kids look up to me,” and if Sanchez continues to work hard, his dreams may soon become a reality.
